Plezayre Updates Lot
82 For Magic Millons
Wednesday 6th December -
The John Moore trained Plezayre
(Snippets x Lezayre) scored
 a
dominant 1 1/4 length victory at Happy Valley tonight over
the 1000m journey of the Class 4 America Hcp. Racing handy
throughout in the 1000m scamper, rounding the turn jockey K
L Chui gave Plezayre some more reign and he responded to
pull away from the field.
Scoring in the time of 57.20 (vision can be viewed
here), the 4yo gelding was
bred and offered for sale by Luskin Park Stud at the 2004
Magic Millions being knocked down to Olympia Bloodstock for
$270,000. Plezayre has now recorded 2 wins and over HK$1
million in prize money from a short career.
Lot 82, to go
through on the first day of the 2007 Magic Millions will see
a half-brother to the consistent Hong Kong galloper from the
second crop of Coolmore's 7 time Gr 1 winning son of
Danehill in Rock Of Gibraltar (IRE) . The colt is one of a
stellar line up of 11 yearling heading to the coast this
year and can be viewed

Oh So Close For Mimidae
Saturday
2nd December - After a last start performance in which
the talented Catbird mare didn't handle the tight turning
Hawkesbury track, trainer John O'Shea (pictured left)
decided to give the Luskin Park owned Mimidae her chance at
Black Type. Sending her north to Eagle Farm on Saturday for
the Listed Carlton Classic over 1200m for fillies and mares,
Mimidae started a 13/2 chance in the $77,500 event.
Jumping well from barrier 10 for jockey Michael Cahill, the
Catbird mare settled in the middle of the field within
striking distance of the leaders. Rounding the home turn,
Mimidae pounced on the leaders, taking a slender lead. But
the rest of the field where also in full flight, chasing
down the gallant mare. Going down by a neck, Mimidae
recorded her first black type placing from her racing short
career to date.
Mimidae Makes It Two On End
Saturday 21st October - The John O'Shea trained Mimidae (Catbird x Sufuf (GB)) put in what can only be describe as a "breath taking" performance to utterly dominate her rivals in the $55,000 City Tattersalls Hcp over 1200m. Jumping from barrier 1, jockey Tim Clark had the mare settled on the fence just off the pace.
Rounding the home turn Mimidae let rip with a stunning finishing burst to swoop on the leader and just kept going. The roars from the crowd were deafening as the punters elect swept to a 2 1/2 length victory.
Backing up from a victory last Saturday over the highly talented Hoystar, Mimidae was the third of a winning trifecta of winnings for talented apprentice Tim Clark. Owned by a group including Luskin Park Stud, the impressive Catbird mare has now recorded 4 wins from her 12 career starts.
Punxsutawney Phil's Devastating Trial Win
Monday 16th October - With Choisir's first crop of 2YO's hitting the ground running, it was no surprise to see Punxsutawney Phil (Choisir x Midnight Ballet) dominate the first trial at Cranbourne today. Out of the unraced Midnight Ballet, herself a daughter of Gr. 1 winning Midnight Fever, Punxsutawney Phil was bred and reared on the lush pastures of Luskin Park Stud.
Sold through the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, the slashing bay colt was purchased for $270,000 by Belmont Bloodstock Agency for a group of astute owners. Now under the care of leading trainer Lee Freedman, Luskin Park Stud were always taken by this fellow that they remained in the ownership so they could be a part of his exciting racing future.
The aim will be to try and get the colt to the races during the spring, and then he go for a short let up in readiness for the lucrative Magic Millions 2YO race in January.
A 3/4 bother by Danehill Dancer (IRE) to Punxsutawney Phil has been entered for the 2007 yearling sale and will be much sort after commodity, with any further performance by Punxsutawney Phil only enhancing his pedigree.
Mimidae Salutes At
Rosehill
Saturday 14th
October - Lightly race Catbird mare, Mimidae turned in
an excellent effort 2nd up from a spell today to down the
highly touted odds on favourite Hoystar by a 1/2 length
margin in the Leabrook Farms Pure Honey Hcp (1200m) at
Rosehill Gardens.
Jumping from
barrier 6 in the 11 horse field, jockey Tim Clark settled
the John O'Shea trained mare mid-field. Rounding the home
turn Beadman had made his move on the favourite and Clark
pulled the mare out from behind him to make her challenge.
Gaining the upper hand about 100m out, Mimidae went on for a
convincing win.
Having finished
5th, beaten a little over 2 lengths in the Gr. 2 Light
Fingers behind at her last start of her previous campaign,
the stable were not surprised with her win at all and
predict a bright future for the mare. If you look at the
form from the Light Fingers you would not be surprised, as
the Gr. 1 winners Regal Cheer and Mnemosyne finished only
just in front of her in that race.
Purchased from
the Stratheden Stud draft at the 2004
Magic Millions Yearling Sales, Mimidae will retire to Luskin Park
Stud when her racing days are over to join the ever growing
broodmare band.

Pegasus Queen To Retire
Friday 13th
October - Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) mare Pegasus Queen has
been retired to stud after an unsuccessful trip to
Queensland where she had been unable to recapture her 2yo
form. Racing under the care of master trainer Bart Cummings,
the mare was sent north to the stables of Robert Heathcote,
where although nothing was found to be wrong with the
lightly raced mare, she just didn't seem to have her mind on
racing anymore. A suitable stallion will now be found for
the mare and she will be mated within the next few weeks.
